Martin (Marty) Black

Martin (Marty) Black, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Springfield, died Nov. 6 in Phoenix.

Born in Olmstead, Mr. Black was a graduate of Feitshans High School and Springfield College in Illinois.

Prior to moving to Phoenix in 1978, he had been active in sports during his school years. He later became involved with sports activities with youths in the Springfield community, and received one of the highest awards from the YMCA in 1967. Mr. Black also participated in judo and karate and earned his black belt in Tokyo.

Surviving are his mother, Callie W. Black of Eugene, Ore.; one daughter, Misty Miracle Black of Phoenix; and two brothers, Terrance (Terry) and Gregory Black, both of Oregon.

Graveside services were held Nov. 15 at Glendale City Cemetery, Glendale, Ariz.
