Mae R. (Rothrock) Statler

Mae R. Statler, age 88, of Humboldt, died Jan. 22, 2006, at the Victorian Gardens Care home in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Mae was born June 7, 1917, in Lewistown, Pa., to Homer Bruce and Esther Swigart Rothrock.

Mae's family moved to Oregon in 1921. She attended LaVerne College in California. She married Walter Statler in 1939 and moved to Humboldt, where she lived for 67 years. Mae worked as a clerk in the Humboldt Post Office for 40 years. She also worked as a replacement clerk in the post offices in Mayer, Dewey and Bumble Bee. After retiring from the post office, she worked as a bookkeeper along side her husband Walter, who owned and operated the Iron King Assay Office.

She loved cats, birds, gardening, traveling, reading and learning. She had a wonderful mind and had a vast knowledge of the geography of Arizona.

She was a loving, generous mother who will be missed. Mae is survived by her son, David and his wife Lu of Dewey, her daughter, Margaret and her husband Joe of Soldotna, Alaska; grandsons Walter and Patrick, and Patrick's wife Stephanie; great grandsons Peyton and Gage.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Humboldt Community Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, at the Humboldt Bible Church. Pastor Jim Jones will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to the YRMC Hospice 3262 N. Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86314

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Victorian Garden Care Home for their loving and tender care.

Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
