During WWII, she lived in many places in the U.S., and following the war, she moved to Sao Paolo, Brazil, for two years. She returned to the U.S. to live in Erie, Pa., for five years, where her son, George, was born.

It was in Erie that she first became active in the American Red Cross, serving there as a chairman of the Social Services Committee. After her retirement, she again returned to volunteering, this time as a regular volunteer at Whipple and then as a volunteer at the Prescott Samaritan Village, then a
senior peer counselor at the West Yavapai Guidance Clinic and the Geriatric Resource Center of the Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

She was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints on March 19, 1960. The various positions she held in the church are: Cub Scout Den Mother, Ward Laurel Teacher, Stake Laurel Teacher, Visiting Teacher, Social Relations Teacher-Relief Society, and she served in the Spanish Extraction Program for 3 years.

Florence moved to Bothell in 1992 to be near her family after she had suffered two strokes. She was a resident of Woodway Inn for 11 years, and then was tenderly cared for by the Bothell Care Center and Evergreen Hospice Services.

Survivors include her son, George, his wife Shelly, and her granddaughter, Alexis Marie Ainsworth, all of Bothell.
