Eleanor G. (Bender) Abell - Johnson

Eleanor G. Abell-Johnson died Nov. 14, 2005, at Las Fuentes Resort. She was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of William H. and Grace M. (Parkes) Bender. Eleanor would have celebrated her 89th birthday Friday.

Eleanor was a very gifted and active woman; her creative and artistic side was as an accomplished classical pianist, an artist working in oils, and a ballet dancer.

She was also an avid golfer, bowler, and a wonderful cook and enjoyed a good hand of bridge. Eleanor was a member of National TTT, National League of Pen Women, Scots of Prescott and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was very proud of her work with the Sun City Sheriff's Posse and having been President of Pen Women. S

he was most proud of her family. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Roberta (Albert) Landeck of Prescott; son, Dr. William (Patricia Nicol) Abell of Anderson, Ind.; sister, Theresa (Gerry) Miller of Chippeafalls, Wisc.; grandchildren, Gregory, Susan, Albert, Jennifer and Deborah and nine great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was widowed three times, Austin in 1973, Clayton; in 1976, and Herbert in 1987. Her brother, Frank; and great-granddaughter, Miranda also preceded her in death.

The family and friends will gather from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 Cortez St., Prescott.

A celebration of Eleanor's life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home with a sharing of memories and
reception following in the Carriage House.

Grave dedication will be graveside 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 21, at Sunland Cemetery, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Ariz.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home was entrusted with Eleanor's services.
