Phil Silva, Jr., 86, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 in Springerville. He was born Dec. 15, 1924, in Springerville to Filomeno and Zella Maxwell Silva.
Phil served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 during World War II; he was a signal man. Phil married Marge Sanchez in 1948 in New Mexico. He owned a local sand and gravel business and retired from that. He loved hunting and fishing.
Phil is survived by his wife, Marge of Springerville; son James C. Silva of Springerville; daughter Becky (Carmen) Anzelone of Buffalo, New York; brother Malcom (Susie) Silva of Springerville; sister Mildred Rister of Illinois; nephews: Scott (Erin) Silva, Bill Rister, Jim Rister, and Alan Rister; grandniece Haley Silva; two granddaughters Jamie (Mike) Janofsky and Jessica Silva; and great-granddaughter Julianna Janofsky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Loween Wood, and grandchildren: Jennifer, Mark, and Clint McDonnell.
Memorial services will be announced and held at a later date.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Phil Silva, Jr., at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at St. Peterís Catholic Church in Springerville. He passed away Feb. 14, 2011.
