John Toce, 84, of Prescott, Ariz., born Nov. 29, 1923, in Hartford, Conn., passed away Nov. 1, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz.

Private family gathering will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.

John Toce, 84, of Prescott, Arizona, died on Saturday, November 1, 2008, after a lenghty illness. Born in Hartford, Connecticut on November 29, 1923, he was the son of the late Biagio and Ann Toce.

Prior to moving to Prescott in 1985, John was a 50 year member of the Connecticut Laborers' Local 230 Union. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

John leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Tony Veci, Prosper Toce, Oscar Toce, James Toce, and Nicholas Toce, and his sisters Grace Pistorio and Angie Toce.

John will be remembered as a kind, upbeat, caring person who was an avid reader, and a health and art enthusiast. His family expresses special thanks to the Prescott V.A. Hospice doctors, nurses and staff for their outstanding attention to John during his final weeks.
