The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ August 25, 1945, p.1 Russell B. Champie Rites Here Tuesday Funeral Services for Russell B. Champie, former Wickenburg resident, were held at the Wickenburg Chapel at 10: 30 a. m. Tuesday with burial in the Wickenburg cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. B. Ross Cleeland. Mr. Champie died in Nevada City, Calif., following a brief illness, at the age of 43. A forest ranger, he was born in Prescott and received his schooling in Phoenix, attending Phoenix union High School and Phoenix Junior College. Until moving to Nevada City 12 years ago, where he served as a forest ranger in Tahoe National Forest, he resided on the Champie Ranch east of Wickenburg. The son of the late A. F. Champie, state pioneer who died last February, he is survived by his mother; his wife Olive; a daughter, Finette; two brothers, Alfred J. Champie of Wickenburg and James Champie, machinist's mate first claas, with the Seabees in the South Pacific; and six Sisters, Mrs. George Gemmell of Wickenburg, Mrs. C. H. Roeser of Phoenix, Mrs. R. F. Schaefer of Tucson, Mrs. James Walker M Pasadena., Calif., Mrs. James Mohme of Berkeley, Calif.. and Mrs. Joseph Lieber of Los Angeles, Calif. See Also: Find a Grave |
