Robert Wayne “Rob” Thornton, 50, of Aguila passed away on Sept. 10 in Sun City, Ariz., after a lengthy illness. Rob was born on May 13, 1958 in Phoenix, Ariz.

He was raised in Aguila, attended elementary school in Aguila and later Trevor Browne High School in Phoenix. Following high school he began farming with his father. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator in road construction, paving and asphalt. Rob loved the outdoors and enjoyed the desert. He will be remembered for his positive outlook on life and his pleasant smile.

He is survived by his fiance, Laurel Price of Aguila; father Wayne Thornton of Aguila; twin brother Will Thornton of Spokane, Wash.; sisters Pam Ashba and family of Casper, Wyo.; Jill Allgaier and family of Lehi, Utah; Beth Golladay of Casper, Wyo.; numerous aunts and uncles, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Molly Thornton in 1986.

Family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home and Crematory.
