| The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Saturday, March 26, 2011 Art Coppinger 1931-2011 Art Coppinger, 80, died March 21 in Camp Verde. He was born January 2, 1931 in Tolleson, Arizona, to William and Maria Louisa Rivera Coppinger. He worked for the Salt River Project, and also served three terms in the State Legislature and one term as a Yavapai County Supervisor. He also worked in real estate and as a rancher. Art is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lola, brothers Billy and Charlie, and daughter Linda. Art is survived by his wife, Daphne, daughter Brenda Coppinger Kelly (Tom) of Camp Verde,son David (Helen) of Cashion, AZ, stepsons Damon Combs and Paul Landry Combs; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also a brother R. L. of Buckeye, sister Mary Hartman (Bud) of Payson and Frankie Lou (Larry) of Phoenix, and many nieces and nephews. Art had faith in the resurrection and knew he will rest in God's memory until Jesus orders him to come on out of the tomb just as he did Lazarus. He will get to hear the voice of Jesus and he talked to everyone he knew about his belief and his hopes. He was a very unique and wonderful man. His family and friends will always remember his fairness, his love for people, and his knowledge of ranching. He was a cowboy from the old school and knew horses and could almost talk to them. He was exceptionally smart whether in his days of politics, his ranching, his real estate career or whatever he did. Twenty years with Salt River Project, retiring as a water master, real estate developing and all the other things he did showed his abilities to accomplish whatever he set out to do. A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 2, 2011 at Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, 1310 S. State Route 260, Cottonwood at 2:00pm.
