Frank Curran of Wickenburg, died April 25. He was 80. Mr. Curran was born on February 2, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of nine children, to an Irish Catholic family. He was educated in New York and Wyoming and attended Cornell University.

Mr. Curran had been in the hotel business. He also had owned his own businesses in New York and Florida. He was a past Grand Knight and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. Mr. Curran was a familiar face in the Wickenburg Public Library, having frequented the library many times each month. He was a voracious reader with a wide interest in various subjects. Highland University in Las Vegas, New Mexico had tested Frank Curran and he measured at genius level.

Mr. Curran was a man who had a way of looking at life the way he wanted it to be, instead of the way it was. He always managed to find the beauty and humor in everyone and everything. He had a sincere respect for his fellow man, and never had an unkind word for anyone. He enjoyed keeping in touch with his family. His letters were filled with information and remembrances of the past. He had an uncanny memory for dates and places and people he had met along the way. He listened to everyone’s complaints and worries, hopes and dreams, and rarely shared his own.

He was a gentle and sweet man who didn’t utter the word “love” very often but showed it constantly by his thoughtfulness and caring for everyone he knew. He found humor in referring to himself as the “old goat” and making fun of his daily routines. His modesty probably didn’t allow him to realize how very much loved and appreciated he was.

He was an uncle, a brother and a friend. He touched many lives, always leaving behind a smile or two. Many loved him and will remember him fondly.

Mr. Curran is survived by a sister, Dorothy Crum of Long Beach, California; many nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews.

At Mr. Curran’s request, there were no services.

Donations may be made in Frank Curran’s name to the American Cancer Society.

Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service handled all arrangements.
