Robert (Bob) A. Mills

Robert (Bob) A. Mills was born January 30, 1911 in Cleveland, Ohio.

His first love had always been horses. While living in the midwest he worked with Hunters in York, PA walking horses in Georgia and Hackneys in Ohio. He used to ride 5 gaited horses in Ohio. In 1957 Bob Mills did his first show as Ringmaster at the Phoenix Fairgrounds.

In 1958 he did his first show with the Arabian Association and continued to be their ringmaster for 42 years. He also had the youth program with the Arizona State Horseman and put on Cavalcade of Horses at the State Fair for 5 years. Bob started with Desert Show Horse Association when the show was called HORSES AGO GO, the name was changed to Carousel for Cancer, and then The Carousel Show. He was also in the start of Sun Country Quarter Horse Show.

In 1980 BOB WAS HORSEMAN OF THE YEAR FROM BRIDLE & BIT. For 9 years he had "HORSE TALK" ON KOOL RADIO. Bob has served on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Arabian Horse Association and the Arizona State Horseman's Association. He has been ringmaster for the Arizona Peruvian Club, and the American Indian Horse Club of Arizona. Bob has a life membership in the Arizona Quarter Horse Breeders Association and the Arizona Appaloosa Association. He was inducted into the Arizona American Saddlebred Hall of Fame in 1994.

Bob leaves his wife Joanne; 4 stepchildren Lori & Gordon Braegelman, Julia Morgenthal & Rodolfo Rosas, Tim Morgenthal, and Mindy & Jim Ruzzutto. His greater love before his horses was his step-grandchildren, Amanda Rosas, Bridget Daly, and Abby Patterson; and his great-grandchildren, Kyna and Season Motz.

Bob is now in heaven herding all of God's horses. He will be missed so greatly as he went to Heaven January 11, 2005. He was loved by all.

Graveside Service was held on Saturday, January 15, 2005, at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale. Bob requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to 9040 N. 3rd Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021, c/o Joanne Mills. Arrangements by Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
