The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, December 25, 2005 Theodore (Ted) Kirmet Yount passed away Dec. 22, in Prescott at the VA's Hospice Center at the age of 83. In the last two months, he was cared for by his loving family and the caring doctors, nurses and volunteers at the facility. We are forever grateful to them for their humanity. Ted was born on Aug. 13, 1922, in Briceville, Tenn., the youngest of 11 children. Dad moved to Crown King as a toddler where he was educated in a one-room school and later returned as a teacher in the same school. His widowed mother, Ella Tewksbury, married the youngest son of the Tweksburys of the famed "Tweksbury and Gramn Rivalry Feud" in Pleasant Valley (Ariz.). At the age of 18, Dad joined the Navy and was stained on the USS Jenkins as a radioman in the Pacific Theater, then four years on a gun crew. After his return home, he attended ASU and became a teacher. He built his home himself in Wilhoit and retired with his wife, Flossie Yount of 38 years. He is survived by his wife, Flossie Yount and his children, Theodore Young, a mechanicial engineer, Ella McCracken, a rancher and artist, Gregory Yount, a mechanical engineer and master wood worker, Jonathan Yount, the family rocket scientist and computer programer, and eight grandchildren, Tim, Caitlin, Dan, Lillie, Christopher, Alex, Bradley and Sarah. Also, his step-children, Joyce Blasedell, Doris Montoya, Barbara Whitlock, deceased and Terry Hanes. Dad had such a dark and wild sense of humor. He loved to woodwork and was forever inventing things. He was a loving father and husband. We miss you ! A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, at 1:30 p.m., at the VA Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Ted, can be sent to the VA Hospice, 500 N. Highway 89, Prescott, Ariz., 86313. The Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements. |
