Helen Smiley Berssenbruegge passed away after a long struggle with heart problems and macular degeneration. She was 86 years old and is survived by her husband, Bill, and her four daughters, Kay Price, Lois Granger, Jan Berssenbruegge and Sue Garcia. She has one surviving brother, Clifford Smiley, living in Georgia. Her legacy also includes six granddaughters, 13 great-grandchildren and one more on the way.

She was born and raised in Reading, Ohio. She married U.S. Army Air Cadet Bill Berssenbruegge in 1943. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" during the war.

Bill and Helen were married for 65 years.

Helen spent the last 20 years living in Dewey, Ariz., after raising her daughters and seeing all of them through Arizona State University while she lived in Tempe. She brought the family together for the many Christmas and holiday festivities she made so special.

Her hobbies included painting and traveling all over the world with her husband, Bill. She loved seeing to it that all her family and friends had a good time. She will be missed but not forgotten by her friends and family.

Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
