Eleanor Joan (McNarie) Kellis

Eleanor Joan Kellis (McNarie) died on Oct. 22, 2005, in Tustin, Calif., at age 70 of cancer. Joan was born in Prescott to Eleanor and M.J. (Pop) McNarie, a noted Prescott teacher, on Oct. 28, 1934.

She attended Prescott schools and graduated from Good Samaritan School of Nursing. After receiving her nursing license, she was employed at a UMW hospital in Kentucky, until she accepted the marriage proposal of James Kellis, a high school beau.

Joan is survived by her husband; two sons, James Jr. and Jay; brothers, Robert, James, William, and Donald; and six grandchildren.

As her sons grew older, she worked in a variety of areas of nursing areas as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Children's Hospital of Orange County. She was also very active in the Santa Ana Elks Club and the Friends of the Tustin Library.

Joan enjoyed many long motorcycle adventures, including many trips with James to Prescott and to as far as the East Coast to visit grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by her family and many riends.
