Michael Willis Nielson, 61, was diagnosed with cancer Sept. 21, 2007. After a short, courageous battle, surrounded by family and friends, Mike returned home to his loving Heavenly Father on Nov. 16, 2007.

Mike was born Sept. 16, 1946, in Murray, Utah, to Clair Wilford and Mary Loeta Tidwell Nielson. He married Lena Kae Anderson, June 8, 1969, in Las Vegas, Nev. The marriage was Solemnised on Oct. 31, 1970, in the Mesa LDS Temple.

Mike served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era.

He brought his family to Bagdad 32 years ago to work as a heavy equipment operator and driller at the copper mine.

They have loved being there and have enjoyed serving the Lord in his vineyard. He loved to travel and enjoyed many car trips with his wife, visiting many states. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing. Mike had a great sense of humor and made everyone feel at ease. He never knew a stranger; everyone he met became a friend.

He was a fantastic husband, father and grandfather. His greatest love
and pleasure in life was his family. He enjoyed spending quality time with each of his 13 grandchildren.

Mike has left a legacy of love for all of us left behind. He will be remembered and missed by all who know him.

He is survived by wife, Lina Kae, of Bagdad; children Michelle (Cole) Boyd of Vail, Ariz., Michael John (Barbie) Nielson of Kingman, Ariz., Samantha (Kent) Davis of Richfield, Utah, Kristy Lee (David) Gonzalez of Surprise, Ariz., Jeffery Stephen Nielson of Bagdad, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; mother; sister Marilyn (Charlie) Albright of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; brothers Clair Larry (Ireita) Nielson of Elko, Nev., Stephen Blaine (Patty) Neilson, of Cairo, Egypt. He is also survived by his father and motherin-law, Wilmer and Kathleen Anderson of Richfield. He is preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will take place on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Bagdad LDS Ward Chapel, in Bagdad, Ariz. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at the Richfield 7th LDS Ward Chapel, 159 North 400 West.
