Joshua T. Vaughan, 37, of Prescott Valley, passed away on Oct. 18, 2006, in a tragic plane crash. He was born Aug. 20, 1969, in Lafayette, Indiana. He was raised in Fowler, Indiana.

After graduating from Benton Central High School in 1987, Josh moved from Indiana to the Sedona/ Prescott area, where he attended Yavapai College. He exemplified an extreme passion for life through his interest in astronomy, photography, music, dance and softball.

As a photographer, Josh had the talent to capture images of real life and put them into print. He had a special interest in nature, astronomy and aerial photography. In 1996, the amazing photo he captured of the Hyakutake Comet over the beautiful Red Rocks of Sedona was published on the front cover of Astronomy magazine, a prominent national publication. His photo of the Hale-Bopp Comet" over tne Wukoki Indian ruins near Flagstaff, Arizona also gained him national attention. His work has been published in several local and national magazines. Josh absolutely loved the air-to-air photo shoots he would often share with his dear friends. Taking photos of thunderstorms and aircraft, either from the ground or the skies, were truly some of his greatest joys.

Josh was a highly sought after DJ. He ran his own company called "The Juke Box Heroes." Josh loved to dance and had his own unique style of dancing with an awe inspiring, magical smoothness to his step.

Considered to be groupies of the "Sammy Davis Band," Josh and his beautiful wife Amy would love to dance the night away any chance they had. They would enter the dance floor with a magical presence between them and just capture the admiration of anyone who was ever blessed with the opportunity to watch them dance. Having the chance to watch Josh perform with Sammy, and turn into a true Blues Brother, was always a treat.

Of all his talents, nothing was approached with more energy and enthusiasm than his interest in softball. His passion began at an early age when he fell in love with the Cubs. His childhood days were filled with playing baseball in the back yard until nightfall, at which time his other obsession with the stars would take him through the evening.

Josh never stepped on to a ball field without the intent of giving his utmost effort, and his pure athleticism was of astonishing appreciation.

He developed a vast array of friendships in the softball community and his presence win be greatly missed.

So many of us will always be grateful to Josh for showing us the stars. Experiencing the moons of Jupiter, the beautiful rings of Saturn or gazing at a full moon over the Prescott skies are moments we will forever cherish.

Josh is'survived by the love of his life, Amy, who he married in 2003 in Sedona. He is also survived by his parents, Larry and Rita Vaughan of Indiana; his grandfather, Ray Puetz of Sedona; his sister, Melanie Vaughan; nieces Abigail and Katelyn of Indiana; his aunt, Marianne Drinkwater of Indiana; his uncles Joe, Steve and Dan Vaughan of Indiana, and Jim and Tom Puetz of Sedona.

There will be a Service and Reception in celebration of Josh's life on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 5 p.m. at the Smoki Hall, next to the museum at 147 N. Arizona Ave, in Prescott.

In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up in Josh's honor to support causes close to his heart. Donations can be sent to The Joshua Vaughan Fund, Country Bank, Prescott, 443-9595.
