The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 1, 1938, p. 1 H. HOLMES KILLED BY ROCK SLIDE Is Injured Fatally Thursday Morning by Sliding Rock at Father's Service Station, West of Town. Harry Holmes, 21 years old, was injured fatally Thursday morning when he was crushed by sliding rock and earth from an embankment which gave way as he was working at its base. The accident occurred at his father's service station west of here on the California highway, as young Holmes was leveling off the rear of the service station property and was digging at the embankment when it slid down upon him. He was brought to the Wickenburg hospital, where he died a few hours later of head and other injuries. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Holmes, who have resided here about three years.
