Douglas Grant Helmer, age 61, left us suddenly, but peacefully, in his sleep at his home in Prescott on Feb. 25, 2007.

He was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, on March 27, 1945.

Doug was a well-traveled man. His Dad worked for Western Airlines and Doug followed in his own way by working for Marriott In-Flite Catering for 24 years. His job let him live in such places as Guam, Hawaii, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas and San Diego.

His passions were fishing, his dogs and the occasional pool game.

Doug is survived by his wife, Debbie, who he has been married to for 27 years; multitudinous family members here in Prescott; and friends too numerous to begin to list. He touched so many lives.

A celebration of his life will be this Saturday, March 3, at 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post in Chino Valley (Highway 89 and Road 3 South.) An honorary fish fry will be served. Come and share your memories.

In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to the Yavapai Humane Society in his name. Several of his beloved dogs came from there.

The Hampton Funeral Home of Prescott, Arizona was entrusted with the arrangements.
