Joyce Margaret Hoffman

Joyce Margaret Hoffman went home to be with her Savior and Lord on Feb. 25, 2007, at Prescott Valley Samaritan Center. She was born in Elko, Nevada, on Oct. 6, 1918. She was the daughter of Margaret Jessick and Edward Monahan.

Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Robert Hoffman.

Joyce lived most of her married life in West Covina, Calif. Over the years, she helped to raise several children in their own homes. She also supervised children in residential care facilities. Many of them as adults often visited her, with their children, and reminisced about stories she made up for them. In later years she cared for elderly friends. For over twelve years she cared for her wheelchair bound husband in their home.

Joyce enjoyed arts and crafts and often instructed others in creative activities. She had a sharp wit and a contagious sense of humor. She had a generous heart and brought joy to the lives of many.

Joyce moved to Prescott Valley, Ariz. to live with her niece and nephew in September, 1995. She attended Prescott Valley United Methodist Church until health prevented her attendance.

Joyce is survived by her niece, Sharon M. Cunningham, who she helped to raise; her nephew-in-law, Donald E. Cunningham of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; a nephew, John Sheets, of San Francisco, Calif.; two nephews, Daniel and Michael Fratus, of Kennewick, Wash.; a niece, Jean Cooper of Atascadero, Calif., a niece, Susan Harris-Sharples, of Plymouth, Mass.; and a grandniece, Angela Cronan, of Dumfries, Va. She has other grand and great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Her Life will be in the Chapel room at Prescott Valley Samaritan Center on Friday, March 2, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. Her cremains will be interred in the Precious Memories Rose Garden at Heritage Park, Dewey, Ariz..

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to Prescott Valley Samaritan Center.
