Wickenburg (AZ) Sun Wednesday, December 30, 1998, p A-14 Hildred R. Goodwine-Phillips of Wickenburg died Dec 27 in Wickenburg. She was 80. Mrs Goodwine-Phillips was born March 12, 1918 in Wayne, Mich., and had lived in Arizona 46 years. Hildred loved and painted horses since early childhood and made a career being an artist. She painted for Leaning Tree Cards and Western Art, Inc., and for horse lovers all over the world. Her paintings have been bought by celebrities such as George Kennedy and Linda McCartney of the Beatles fame. She was a member of the Cowgirls Hall of Fame and the Appaloosa Club of Arizona. Hildred worked with her husband Jim Goodwine on ranches. They owned the Wagon Box Ranch, which is now Quail Valley Ranch, from 1958 until 1965 when Jim passed away. She has dealt with miniature horses and had collected model horses since 1946, collecting almost 800 from all over the world. She has had many paintings featured on magazine covers such as Western Horseman, Appaloosa News and Draft Horse Journal. Survivors include her children Russell Dunham of Gila Bend, Ariz, Jim Dunham of Prescott, Suzi Killman of Wickenburg and Robin Palmer of North Platte, Neb; sister Janice Pote of Greenwood, Ind; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. Hildred was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Ruby Ferstle; brother Elmer Ferstle, husband Jim Goodwine on Nov 1, 1965 and husband Floyd Phillips of Wickenburg on May 30, 1996. Hildred's family would like to invite everyone, at the conclusion of the graveside services, to join them at Hildred's home for a gathering. Those who can attend are asked to bring a covered dish. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, Jan 2 at Frey Funeral Home, with John Henry officiating. Interment will be at Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Hildred's name to the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys, PO Box 3010, Colorado Springs, CO 80934.
