TWILA SOLBERG
(July 21, 1931 - May 5, 2011)

Twila Griffin Solberg, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away May 5, 2011 at the age of 79. She was born July 21, 1931 in Antlers, OK, the daughter of J.H. “Buddy” and Hettie Griffin. She was the oldest of twelve children. She attended high school in Holbrook, AZ where she met Robert “Bob” Solberg and they were married on August 21, 1948. They had three beautiful children, Robert Jr., Terry, and Karen.

Twila was an avid bowler and for many years held the Miami-Globe Bowling Association high game with a 275. In her past time she enjoyed cooking for family and friends as well as canning foods for others to enjoy. Twila was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, living life through the lives of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. She will live in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents - J.H. “Buddy” and Hettie Griffin; husband - Robert “Bob” Solberg; grandson - William “Spider” Solberg; sister - Delores Schlosser; and brother - Beauford “Bub” Griffin.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Debbie) Solberg, Terry (Ann) Solberg, and Karen (Eddie) Esparza. Eight grandchildren - Chad (Michelle), Matt, Jason, Shawna, Tyler Solberg, Jenica (Mark) Castaneda, Andrea (Jim) Sandoval and Martin Esparza. Ten great-grandchildren - Makayla, Isabella, Devani, Alyssa Solberg; Brittany, Brandon, Michael & Bailee Castaneda; Alexis & Mason Sandoval. One great-great grandson - Carson Porter. Four brothers - Leon, Larry, Wayne, and Garry Griffin all of Oklahoma. Five sisters - Jackie Swilling, Rozell Rowland, & Sue Grubbs of Oklahoma; Pat Durham of New Mexico; and Dianne McKinley of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Twila will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 in the chapel at Lamont Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Twila’s memory to Copper Communities Hospice, 136 N Broad St, Globe, AZ 85501; Arizona Chapter of the ALS Association, 4643 E Thomas Rd, Suite 1 Phoenix, AZ 85018; and Copper Mountain Inn, 1100 Monroe St, Globe, AZ 85501.
