Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Thursday, May 19, 2011 Helen Jean Wolf, 86, of Flagstaff, died May 12, 2011, peacefully at her home. She was born on July 3, 1924, in Van Wert, Ohio, to William R. and Josephine Emma (Hull) Grant. Mrs. Wolf and her husband, Don, were actively involved in their grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives, traveling the country to be there for all the special events. Frequently, they enjoyed traveling the globe, having visited Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, British Columbia, Egypt, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Germany, France and many other destinations. The couple was very active in the NAU music community for nearly 30 years. They were considered parents to an extended family of student marching band and concert musicians, affectionately known for decades as the "Wolf Pack." Mrs. Wolf was active for many years in the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and founded the Tau Beta Sigma music honor sorority at NAU. Mrs. Wolf is survived by seven grandchildren, Tiffany Fisher of Mesa, Heather Lalley of Chandler, Kristina Wolf of Sanford, N.C., Benjamin Wolf of High Point, N.C., Emily Wolf of Phoenix, Grant Parker Wolf of Gilbert and Emma Wolf of Seven Lakes, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald L. Wolf, NAU music professor emeritus; sons Grant L. Wolf and David A. Wolf; three brothers, James Grant (Jane), William R. Grant and Robert E. Grant (Wanda) of Ohio; and sister Mary Evelyn Evans (Morgan) of Ohio. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66, followed by a reception. Mrs. Wolf will be interred with her husband at Citizens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the NAU Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma or the American Cancer Society. Condolences can be sent to www.norvel owensmortuary.com.
