Aiken W. Fisher

Aiken W. Fisher of Wickenburg, a 40-year winter visitor here, died Dec. 30 in Phoenix. He was 88. Mr. Fisher was born March 19, 1908 in Pittsburgh, Pa.

He had been a past member of the Board of Directors for the Desert Caballeros Western Museum and a retired Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fisher Scientific Co., which is a manufacturer and distributor of scientific instruments.

In Wickenburg, Mr. Fisher's great passion was the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. He was a longtime generous patron of the museum, and the Western art gallery there is named in his honor.

Mr. Fisher was the first recipient of the annual Harry J. Needham Award for outstanding service to the museum. He was a past member of the museum's board of directors and a member of the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Fisher was a founder of the Desert Caballeros Golf Club and a member of the Desert Caballeros riding group. He went on the D.C. Ride several times.

Mr. Fisher is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane Fisher; daughter Joan Humphrey of Pittsburgh, Pa.; brother James A. Fisher of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

There will be no local services. Interment will be held at a later date in Pittsburgh.
