Tommy Logan, Jr. Cosby

Tommy Cosby, age 67, passed away on April 18, 2004, in Sierra Vista, Ariz. He was born on Oct. 4, 1936, in Moriarty, N.M.

Tommy was a life-long rancher in Northern and Central Arizona, as well as Western New Mexico. He was an avid horseman, Team Roper, and good at the "West Texas Two-Step". He was also a member of the Arizona Cowpunchers Association, Arizona Cattle Growers, and other rodeo and cowboy associations.

Tommy is survived by his wife Joyce Cosby of Brawley, Calif.; his daughter, Renee of Benson; his son, Tom Jr. of Hereford, Ariz.; and his sister, Kay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Logan and Tina Cosby of Joseph City, and his son, Scott Cosby.

A Memorial Service will be at the Joseph City Cemetery, on Saturday, April 24, at 1:30 p.m.

Life long cattleman and roper was called to greener pastures and gentler horses Sunday, April 18, 2004.

Thomas Logan Cosby Jr. also known as Tommy or Tom Cosby was born October 4, 1936 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Thomas Logan Cosby Sr. and Tyna Bell (Estes) Cosby.

Tommy was raised on a farm and ranch east of Albuquerque New Mexico at the base of the Manzano Mountains. Following high school graduation, he pursued a life long career as a cattleman working in feedlots, sale rings and managing ranches. He moved his family to the Holbrook area in 1967 to begin his profession as a cattle ranch manager. He managed a couple of different ranches before making his home for 20 years on the Foster Enterprises Ranch located at Jackrabbit. When leaving Jackrabbit, he continued to work cows in Southern Arizona and New Mexico. The last few years he resided with his eldest son and family in Hereford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Logan and Tyna Cosby; son Scott Cosby, and Grandson Lee Cosby.

Survivors are first wife Dorothy Baldwin of Show Low; and second wife Joyce Cosby of Brawley, California; sister Kay (Cosby) McDevitt; children, Tommy and Shelly Cosby of Hereford, René and Steven Alley of Benson, and Kris (Cosby) and husband Phillip Huckans of Silver City. Grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob and Kelsey Cosby of Silver City New Mexico and Logan Cosby of Hereford; great-grandchildren: Lori and Clinton Cosby of Hereford.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the Joseph City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
