Doris Sirdefield (Deedee) (Grove) McGinty

Doris Sirdefield McGinty, 92, lovingly known as "Deedee" passed away on Jan. 31, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz.

Doris was born in Saugerties, New York, on June 21, 1915. She was the daughter of Charles Arthur Grove and Elizabeth Martha Gittens Grove.

At the age of 4, her family moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where Doris graduated from Los Angeles High School and business college. She was an accomplished pianist and shared that talent with many others. She loved her antiques and collectibles business and pursued it into her 90s.

She loved life and found joy in everything. Doris was a resident of the greater Prescott area for the past 24 years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Jack, and granddaughter Lorie Kathleen Nelson.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Nelson, of Prescott, and Sharon Driver, of Dewey; granddaughter Gina Ortega of Prescott Valley, Susan Clayton of South St. Paul, Minn.; grandsons Bill Driver of Colville, Wash., and Michael Nelson of Hibbing, Minn.; nine great-grand-children and one great-great-grandchild.

Sunrise Funeral Home is handling arrangements and services are private.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Yavapai College Music Department or your favorite charity, in memory of Doris McGinty.
