Margaret Joy Marler Nelson passed away in her sleep September 23, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah from complications of diabetes. She was born October 28, 1928 in Bremerton, Washington to Artie Lee and Edra Ruth Davis Marler.

She spent her early years in Buckeye, Arizona. After high school she attended Brigham Young University, and Northern Arizona University, eventually settling in Prescott, Arizona where she met Russell K. Nelson, the love of her life. They were married July 12, 1952 in Las Vegas, Nevada and later sealed in the Mesa Arizona temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

They enjoyed 54 years together, raising 3 children, and one Indian placement daughter. They lived in Phoenix, and Chandler for over 50 years.

She was a faithful, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, having served in many organizations. She is survived by her 4 children, Kurt (Sandy) Nelson, Salt Lake City, Utah; Russell Nelson, Walnut Creek, California; Kalle (Steve) Dietrich of Gresham, Oregon; Ella Bryant Yazzie (Lorenzo) of Tuba City, Arizona, 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard Marler, her husband, Russell, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Twelve Oaks 2nd Ward, 10 South Twelve Oaks Blvd, Chandler, Arizona, at 11:00 am, Monday, 1 October 2007, with a viewing that morning at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to either the LDS Humanitarian Fund or the American Diabetes Association.
