Loren Melvin Post, 95, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, in Prescott, Ariz.

He was born July 12, 1910, in Smith Center, Kan., to Archie Eddie Post and Nora Belle Worley.

In 1943, he married Helen Florence Broeske and in 1955, the couple purchased the Four Season lodge and campground at Frontier Lodge, Big Bear Lake, Calif. Helen managed the lodge and Loren worked during the week in Los Angeles as a tool die person until his retirement. The couple sold the lodge in 1975 and moved between Big Bear, Calif., Yuma and Chino Valley, Ariz.

Loren and his brothers grew up on the farm as farmhands, and Loren and his brother Lloyd Post opened a machine shop in Lakin, Kan. In 1938, Loren sold the machine shop interest to his brother and moved to Los Angeles, Calif., purchased the Pontiac Café, which specialized in steaks and chops, and home-cooked meals.

Survived by his wife, of the home; three daughters, Bette Hays-Rider of Wichita, Ks. and Carol Smith and Lauren Brown-Ellis, both of Chino Valley, Ariz.; a brother, LaVerne Howard Post of Marysville, Wash.; and sister, Sylvia Pearl Hayne of Garden City, Ks.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Lloyd Alvin Post, Garden City.

Chino Valley Funeral Home handled the arrangements and burial was held Thursday, March 16, 2006, at the Chino Valley Cemetery.
