George Morrill Barnett

PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- George Morrill Barnett, 91, died June 5 in Prescott, Ariz.

He was born in Concord, the son of Charles and Henrietta Barnett.

He lived in Pittsfield, Mass., before moving to Arizona in 1961. He settled in Prescott, Ariz., in 1985.

He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire.

Barnett was an officer in the Army Coast Artillery-Reserve.

He worked for General Electric and later for Honeywell Information Systems before retiring in 1978.

He was a member of Taskmasters International and received several honors for his distinguished service.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Barnett of Stockton, Calif.; a brother, Eben Barnett of Penacook; a sister, Martha Jurta of Boscawen; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

His first wife of 51 years, Doris, died in 1987; his second wife of 11 years, Evelyn, died in 2001; and a sister, Josephine Barnett, died previously.

Hampton Funeral Home in Prescott, Ariz., is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101, Unit 8, Bedford 03110; or to the Northern Arizona Alzheimer's Association for Youth Education, 225 Grove Ave., Suite B, Prescott, Ariz. 86301.
