Lydia Marie (Hawkins) Prescott

Lydia Marie Hawkins-Prescott passed away on March 14th, 2006 at the age of 46. Lydia was born in Phoenix, Arizona to John B. and Florence Hawkins.

She was a graduate of Phoenix College and attended ASU. Lydia worked for First Interstate Bank of AZ for seven years and then went into business for herself. She became a successful importer of oriental goods, and her first business was setup in New Jersey. After New Jersey she moved to Florida, then Las Vegas and finally in 1995 moved her company to Scottsdale, Arizona. At the time of her death, Lydia was co-owner of Oriental Cargo, with her husband of five years, M. Alastair Prescott. Through her business Lydia was able to fulfill her dream of becoming a world traveler. Lydia loved Bali, where she and her husband built a beautiful home.

Lydia's volunteer services for the last four years were invaluable as the Chairman of Event Operations and her help on the Leadership Council for the International Foundation for Anticancer Drug Discovery (IFADD). To honor Lydia's work at IFADD, the Board of Directors created the "Lydia Hawkins Public Education Program."

Lydia embraced the lifestyle and religion of Asia and had a great sense of style and fashion. She loved to entertain, do needlework, and ended each day reading.

With great sorrow Lydia is survived by her husband M. Alastair Prescott, adopted daughter Eva Silverman, her mother Fleur (Florence) Hawkins, stepfather Joe Sansone, her sister and husband, Cheryl L. & Robert Scharrer, nephews Matthew and Mark, niece and husband, Melissa and Cody Halliburton and great niece Alexis Halliburton.

Additionally, Lydia leaves behind many other family members and many friends.

Private services and a celebration of Lydia's life were held on March 25, 2006.
