Walter Kent, 91, of Prescott, Arizona, died on February 18, 2006.

Celebration of Life will be March 5, 2006 at 1 pm in the Camp Verde Pavillion on Main Street, Camp Verde, Ariz.

Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel, Prescott Valley, Ariz. assisted the family with the arrangements.

Walter Kent, 91, formerly of Flagstaff, died Feb. 19, 2006, at the Arizona Pioneer Home in Prescott. Mr. Kent was born March 2, 1914, in Luna Valley, N.M.

Mr. Kent graduated from Clarkdale High School and worked for the U.S. Forest Service as fire guard and for Phelps Dodge Corp. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Torpedoman First Class, where he worked on the gyroscope which directed the course of the air delivered torpedoes and was awarded a citation for accuracy. On his return he operated the Yavapai Packing Co., then turned to farming and custom harvesting in central and northern Arizona. He held office in the Coconino Farm Bureau, and sold seeds to Northrup King Seed Co. He was a ranch manager for the Sally Hollamon Ranch and the Tall Tales Ranch.

Mr. Kent is survived by a brother Charles A. Kent of Glendale, Calif.; a sister, Winnifred Mae Hogue of San Diego; his wife Betty Dickinson Kent of Rimrock; daughter Sherry DeVillier (Jim) of Rimrock ; sons W. Norman (Charlu) of Richmond, Texas, Charles H. (Casey) of LY Ranch, Benson, and Daniel of Phoenix; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father A.J. Kent; mother, Alice Johnson Kent; brothers, Alphonso, Homer and Gerald (Jerry); sisters Bernice Giclas and Frieda Engleman.

A memorial service will be March 5 at 1 p.m. at the gazebo in Camp Verde, next to the Camp Verde Historical Society.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Arizona Pioneer Home 301 McCormick, Prescott (86003) or the Camp Verde Historical Society, P. O. Box 1184, Camp Verde, Ariz., 86322.
