Marjorie Smith, born in Worland, Wyo., in 1925, where she lived until she graduated from high school, passed away Nov. 8, 2008. The family moved to Haggerstown, Md., following graduation. Marge (as she was know to her friends) went to work building wings for the Martin bombers as another "Rosie the Riveter."

After the war she was accepted into a nursing program where she completed the three-year program and was employed by a private psychiatric hospital. She then received a year's residency in nursing administration at the V.A. hospital in Brookham, Mass. She latter worked in Santa Monica, Calif., at the V.A. Hospital in the Psychiatric wards.

Marge moved to Prescott, Ariz., in February 1990 to serve as Chief of Nursing Service at Fort Whipple V.A. Hospital, now known as Bob Stump Memorial V.A. Hospital. She retired from there in 1994.

Known and loved for her tireless work in the area of Prescott, she was a Prescott Art Docent, member of American Association of University Women, the Azena Club, the Prescott Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Democratic Women of Prescott, Arizona Association and Humanists of Prescott, Arizona Chapter. Along with all this, she also was involved with the Gardening Club, bowled on a league and found time to lunch with friends.

All who knew her will miss her greatly.

A celebration of her life and a memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Prescott Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
