Betty Jean Kantautas, born to Clifford G. and Clara E. Willis on July 27, 1929 in Zion, Ill., married Gus J. Kantautas Oct. 2, 1948. They had three daughters, Susan, Judy and Barbra.

The Kantautas family arrived in Arizona from Illinois in February 1960 and settled down in White Tanks near Litchfield Park. Betty and Gus made Prescott their home in 1976. They lived the past several years in Chino Valley to be in an open, rural community to continue Betty's lifelong love of horses.

Later Betty's daughters and families all joined them here in Prescott and Chino Valley.

Betty loved being outside and treasured her times with her horses. In recent years, she could be seen with her mini's, cart-driving them or helping others with practices and performances.

Betty departed her loving family early Tuesday morning, Nov. 13, 2007, in her home with her husband and daughters by her side.

Betty left behind her husband, Gus Kantautas; their three girls, Susan Nibley, Judy Kantautas-Robertson and Barbra Clougherty; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Hampton Funeral Home is handling the final arrangements.

YRMC Hospice helped Betty and the family through the last several weeks and the family would like to have any donations, in lieu of flowers, go to the YRMC Hospice.
