Geneva Walters, age 87, passed away at her Prescott home on May 1, 2004.

Born Geneva Woolley in Kanab, Utah, Jan. 1, 1917, she attended
Kanab High School and during the summers, she worked at the Gap Trading
Post on the Navajo reservation in Northern Arizona. Here she learned to drive a Model-T and to speak the basics of the Navajo language.

Following graduation, she worked as a waitress at the lodge on the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Geneva and two of her girlfriends once hiked the Canyon from the south rim to the north rim. She had yet to meet her future husband, who at that time was building trails with the C.C. Camp at Phantom Ranch.

In 1938, Geneva married "Gene," her beloved husband of 50 years; they resided in Phoenix. She was a devoted wife and mother who took great pleasure in homemaking and nurturing her family. She loved the outdoors and they enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends.

Geneva lived life with a positive, generous and funloving attitude. She delighted in many friends and loved to joke, tease and entertain. The lives she touched were enriched by her presence and she will be deeply missed.

Geneva is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Roach of Prescott; her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Walters and Sue Brugger of Prescott; and her sister, Anna Bunting of Kanab, Utah. Geneva is also survived by her five grandchildren, Kathy, Pat, Mike, Mark and Julie; and ten great-grandchildren, Alex, Zac, Arthur, Mary, Kayla Rae,Eric, Joshua, Gage, Sydney and Max.
