David Earl Handford, 64, passed away suddenly in Phoenix, July 6, 2011. He was born Oct. 8, 1946.

Dave had the soul that was always larger than life. We suspect Dave never met a stranger, and all who got to know him, loved him. He had a way about him that made you feel like everything would be all right no matter what the circumstance. Dave always had a great smile and a story to share. If something was important to you, it was important to Dave, and he was always so thoughtful. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was an Eagle Scout.

The loves of his life were his children, being a husband, and his work involving concrete and gold mining. Dave always said "nothing is faster than the speed of thought, so all I have to do is think of you, and I'm with you." He will always be dearly loved and will be deeply missed until we meet again in Heaven.

Dave is survived by his twin children, Shane (Angie) and Hayden (Roxy) Handford; grandchildren, Shane, Joseph, Angelina and Madox; sister, Dee Hedstrom; and cherished extended family and friends.

A service of remembrance of Dave's life will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel.

Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the family at www.lakehavasumortuary.com.

Arrangements are placed under the care of Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory.
