The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, October 22, 2004 Lois Lakin Lockett, age 92, long time Phoenix resident died October 14, 2004 in Camp Verde, Arizona. She was born May 2, 1912 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Lloyd and Ethyl Lakin. She attended Kennelworth Elementary in Phoenix, Phoenix Union High School, and Mills College in California. Mrs. Lockett was a retired commercial artist and also worked in quarter horse production and management with her husband. She spent summers on the ranch in Flagstaff for many years. She enjoyed hunting, sketching, painting, ranchwork, and poetry writing. Her husband, Robert Wallace Lockett, two sisters, Barbara Miller and Meredith Tiffany, preceded her in death. She leaves two sons, Robert W. Lockett, Jr. of Prescott and Joseph Lockett of Camp Verde; a brother, Charles Austin Lakin of Phoenix; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23rd at the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, Ariz. at 2 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Arizona Cattle Growers Association, 1401 North 24th Street, Phoenix, Ariz., 85008. |
