Charles Atlee Finch

Charles Atlee Finch, 85, of Phoenix, Arizona, died peacefully on November 27th, 2006. He was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, on May 18th, 1921.

Mr. Finch was attached to the psychological warfare division of SHAEF, in London, England and Paris, France during World War II.

Following graduation from the University of Iowa Law School in 1948, Mr. Finch was an Assistant County Attorney in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, from 1948 to 1950; a member in the Waterloo, Iowa law firm of Swisher, Cohrt, Swisher, Finch & McCann from 1951 to 1969, and a member in the Phoenix, Arizona law firm of Shimmel, Hill, Bishop & Gruender from 1969 until his retirement.

Mr. Finch was a Board Certified Specialist by the State Bar of Arizona in Injury and Wrongful Death Litigation and a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers, Inc. Mr. Finch was a past president of the Phoenix Sunrise Rotary Club and the Arizona Seniors Golf Association. Mr. Finch was a member of the Arizona Country Club and a past member of the Memorial Garden Trustee Committee of Christ Church of the Ascension. Mr. Finch served as Judge ProTempore in the Superior Court of Maricopa County, Arizona.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Charles Atlee Finch, Jr. and Martha (Marty) Finch; son, Walter Atlee Finch; two grandsons Michael Christian Finch and Christian Atlee Finch; two granddaughters Morgan Marie Finch and Bailey Ann Finch; and a sister Mary Ann Robertson.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5th, at Christ Church of the Ascension, 4015 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, Arizona.
