Emma A. Melton

Emma A. Melton, 85, passed away December 29, 2003 in Yuma. Emma was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Melton in July, 2002. She was born on July 5, 1918 in Los Mochis, Sineloa, Mexico.

Jim and Emma were members of Calvary Baptist Church. They served with the Missionary Gospel Fellowship and began doing mission work in the Bracero camps in 1952. They retired from active mission work in Mexico in 1998.

Emma is survived by her daughters, M. Eve Watson, of Grand Canyon, AZ; Phillys J. Meade, of San Clemente, CA, Nancy L. Tillman of Glencoe, OK, and Sylvia E. Mabrey, of Yuma; son James A. Melton, of Phoenix, AZ; and sister-in-laws, Bessie Verrue, of Phoenix, AZ, and Barbara Melton, of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Johnson Mortuary, Friday, January 2, 2004 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Graveside services will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park at 10:00am on Saturday, January 3, 2004, followed by a memorial service at Calvary Baptist Church at 11:00am.
