Deidre Kay Amero, 45, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., born Nov. 30, 1963, in Pekin, Ill., passed away Dec. 2, 2008, in Prescott Valley.

Viewing will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7885 E. Long Look Dr., Prescott Valley, Ariz. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at the church, with graveside services following at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz.

The Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.

Obituary for Deidre Kay Amero

Deidre "Deedee" Kay Amero died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Born on November 30, 1963, in Pekin, Illinois, she was the daughter of Ronald A. and Donna J. (Kaufman) Barber. She was 45 years old.

Deedee was born and raised in Illinois, having spent her youth in the University Park area. She graduated from Crete-Monee High School in 1982. She went on to serve her country in the U.S. Air Force, where she met and married her husband, Gary. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and the American Legion. She was an avid scrapbooker, and was very proud of her country and her family.

Deedee is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gary V. Amero of Prescott Valley; sons, Jonathan Amero of Prescott Valley and Thomas Amero of Hampden, Maine; sisters Terri (Ray) Cote of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Toni Barber of Huntsville, Texas, and Susan Barber of Palm Coast, Florida; brother Douglas (Barbara) Barber of Sugarland, Texas; mother, Donna Barber of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; her father- and mother-in-law CMSgt. (Ret.) Arnold V. "Chuck" and Rebecca E. Amero of Charleston, Maine; sister-in-law Lainie M. Amero of Depot Bay, Oregon; brother-in-law Dennis (Marcia) Amero of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine; many nieces and nephews.

Deedee is preceded in death by her father Ronald, and niece Sara M. Cote. She will be greatly missed.

Interment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona will begin at 2:00 p.m.

A Memorial Service at the Bangor LDS Chapel, 639 Grandview Ave., Bangor, Maine, (corner of Essex and Grandview) will be held at 6:30 p.m., January 23, 2009.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Deedee's name to your local LDS Relief Services, or your local Special Olympics.
