Clifford William Tarn, born Dec. 21, 1918, in Winnipeg, Canada, and fighting a long hard battle with Alzheimer's, died Nov. 29, 2008, in the loving care of Pleasant Valley Care Home, Prescott, Ariz.

He was the loving son of Alfred and Gladys Tarn, brother to Hazel Longden, husband to Ruth Tarn and father to surviving daughters Roxanne Tarn and son-in-law James Welch, Robbynne Raupers and son-in-law Louis Raupers.

He became a U.S. citizen while serving in the USAF in WWII. Clifford married Ruth and made their home 59 years in El Monte, Calif.

He retired from thoroughbred horse racing after becoming one of the top owner/trainers.

Final resting place is Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, Calif., to be with Ruth.

Heritage Memory Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
