Joseph (Joe) John Lorkovic

Joseph (Joe) John Lorkovic passed away Sept. 1, 2011 at home quietly in his sleep after a long extended illness.

Joe was born in Omaha, Neb., to Joseph and Mary Lorkovic, Aug. 17, 1928. He served in the Navy from 1947 to 1951. After the Navy, Joe worked at various jobs until he settled down in California and worked for the Southern California Gas Company. After his retirement from the gas company, he and his wife Dawn, moved to Lake Havasu City to enjoy their seniors years together. During his retirement years in Lake Havasu, he worked for Sandpoint, Beachcomber, True Value Hardware, London Bridge Golf Course and on the Dreamcatcher.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn; five daughters, Regina Hinton, of Cathedral City, Calif.; Barbara Vaters, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Michele Lawrence, of Bothell, Wash.; Elizabeth Menden, of Costa Mesa, Calif.; Vicki Lockhart, of Middleton, Mass.; and two sons, Joseph Lorkovic, of San Diego, Calif., and George Lorkovic, of Carlsbad, Calif.; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; one brother; and one sister.

Joe was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Loyal Order of the Moose and Eagles. He spent countless years working as a volunteer for these organizations and loved donating his time to help.

Joe loved to fish, loved to work in his yard and garage and loved the casinos. He was a loving husband, a caring and devoted father and grandfather and a true and loyal friend to many. He will be missed by us all, but is in a better place.
