The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Saturday, November 15, 2008 The memorial service for Marye Grua Follett, 87, of Clarkdale, who died at home on Oct. 26, 2008, will be held in Clarkdale on Nov. 22. She was the daughter of Oscar Earnest and Suzanna Mae (Clark) Grua; being born November 18, 1920 in Pleasant Grove, Utah; where she grew up and graduated from High School. Following which, Marye went on to the University of Utah where she received her Bachelor's Degree of Political Science and Certificate of Social Work in 1943. Marye served her country during WWII; working for the Red Cross. In 1948, she moved to Globe, Arizona where she was employed as a Social Worker for the State-now known as the Arizona Department of Child Protective Services. While in Globe she met the love of her life, Mayo Follett, who she married on March 25, 1951 in Flagstaff. Together they moved to Holbrook where Mayo ran a Chevron Station, and Marye continued her Social Work until the birth of their fourth child. While residing in Northern Arizona Marye was active in the Order of the Eastern Star in Holbrook-Liberty Chapter #23; she was also an avid Docent at the Museum of Northern Arizona for many years. In 1965 they moved to Lupton, Arizona; in 1974 to Houck, Arizona; then onto Williams, Arizona in 1982. It was in 1989 that they retired to Cottonwood; where they made their final home. Marye was a member of the St. Thomas of the Valley Episcopal Church in Clarkdale and served faithfully as an Altar Guild for nearly 14 years. She enjoyed Quilting, Sewing, and Politics. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harvey Mayo Follett; Marye leaves behind her son, Donald Mayo Follett with his wife, Barbara of Potomac, Maryland; three daughters, Kristine Follett with Dennis Tomko of Clarkdale, Susan Donahoe with her husband, John of Cottonwood, and Winifrid Follett with Connie Brown also of Cottonwood. Marye was also the grandmother of six, and the great-grandmother to one. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor at some later date. Services will be held at the St. Thomas of the Valley Episcopal Church, 889 First South Street, Clarkdale, Arizona 86324; where contributions made in her name can be sent.
