John Chester (Chet) Skousen

John Chester "Chet" Skousen Sr. died Oct. 27, 2008, in Prescott. He was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Thatcher to John Wayne and Marry Elizabeth Skousen.

Mr. Skousen graduated from Clarkdale High School in 1938 and was an Eagle Scout. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Aircraft Carrier Ranger.

He married Melva Myrtle Mounts in 1940, with whom he had two children, and Marie Agnes Stuart in 1964. He retired from Goodyear Aerospace in Phoenix.

He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mr Skousen was a resident of Cottonwood from 1965 to 2006 and a resident of Arizona Pioneer Home in Prescott 2006-08.

Survivors include his sons John Chester Jr., Russell Bruce and Fred Stuart; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Cremation and internment were on Mingus Mountain. No services are requested or scheduled.
