Charles P. (Chuck) Varsolona

Charles P. "Chuck" Varsolona, 66, of Galesburg, Kans., died Nov. 9, 2008, at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul. He was born June 19, 1942, at Arma, Kans., to frank and Lucille (Vezzetti) Varsolona.

He grew up in Arma and graduated from high school there in 1960. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Pittsburg State University.

From 1965 to 1977, he was a teacher and administrator at the Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind at Tucson. From 1977 to 1997 he owned and operated the Varsolona Family Tree Garden Center at Cottonwood. Later, for several years, he was employed by Griffith Enterprises at Cottonwood. In 2004, he retired to Galesburg, Kans.

He married Jeryl L. Brown on July 30, 1966, in Tucson.

He was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church and of the Lions Clubs in Cottonwood and Parsons, Kans. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship for his involvement in the work of Lions Clubs. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting and fishing and traveling.

Survivors include his wife Jeryl Varsolona; and a brother, Robert Varsolona of Galesburg, Kans.

Memorial services will be Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Galesburg United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ralph Peters officiating.

Memorials are suggested to either the Galesburg United Methodist Church or the Parsons Lions Clubs. They may be sent to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Box 942, Parsons KS 67357.
