Clara Mae Syphert, 96, of Cottonwood, Ariz., died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008. She was born to Leon and Isabelle (LeMaster) Boucher on Feb. 5, 1911, in Mt. Vernon, Mo.

During her life, she worked as a telephone operator and was also a self-employed dress designer and seamstress.

Mrs. Syphert was an accomplished artist and photographer.

She was a member of the United Brethren Church where she served as choir director.

Mrs. Syphert enjoyed traveling, gardening, photography, nature, wildlife, painting sewing and teaching exercise classes.

For the past 12 years, she celebrated each birthday with friends at the Blazin M Ranch.

Mrs. Syphert is survived by a daughter, Betty Jo Stoddard of Cottonwood; two nephews and two nieces.

Her husband Robert Syphert preceded her in death in 1995.

Funeral services were held on Saturday Nov. 8, 2008 at the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood.
