Ethel Sterner, 101, of Camp Verde, died Oct. 20, 2008. Ethel was born in Oklahoma territory Aug. 22, 1907, to the late Nicholas Parks and Laura (Landreth) Parks.

The family moved from Okalahoma to New Mexico on a covered wagon, taking two days to travel.

Ethel owned a date farm for many years Goodyear, Ariz.

In World War II, Ethel worked on the home front doing machine work; she was a "Rosie the Riveter."

She is survived by a grandson and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Terry, daughter June Betts, and her three sisters.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Middle Verde Cemetery, Camp Verde, Ariz.

Bueler Funeral Home assisted the family.
