Gene Scowden

Gene Scowden was born on Jan. 14, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Arthur and Alma Scowden, who preceded him in death. He died Aug. 18.

Gene attended and graduated from Clinton High School in Tennessee in 1951 and the following year he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Gene served 26 years in the service and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Gene was active in all sports from baseball to golf. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Over the years he was active in Little League both as a coach and an umpire.

Gene is survived by his best friend and wife of 51 years Anne; his children, Glenn, Victoria, Gary and Steven; three grandchildren; his sister, Dixie, of Cottonwood; brothers Roland, formerly of Sedona, now in McMinnville, Ore., and Arthur Neil of Missouri.

A private military service with full honors was held in San Diego with burial at Ft. Rosencrans at Pt. Loma, Calif.
