Dearl William "Bill" Holt died in his Cottonwood home Oct. 5, 2008. He was 75 years old.

He was born on June 20, 1933, to George W. and Willia Holt in Haskill, Okla.

As a child, he attended schools in California. As a young man, Bill served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy. As an adult, he worked as an Operating Engineer for the Pierce Company Road Crew. Later on in life, he and his wife, Lotus, fully enjoyed traveling throughout the country in their RV, often times volunteering their time at various State and National Parks.

Bill also volunteered at the Central Arizona Food Bank and at the Old Town Mission.

Bill leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Lotus Holt of Cottonwood; his daughter, Elvonne Holt of Florida; four sisters, Christine Eubanks and Juanita Parker-both of Oregon, Margie Ogletree of California, and Georgie Ogletree of Oklahoma. Two grandchildren, as well as, Wayne and Darlene Westcott of Chino Valley, also survive him. Bill is preceded in death by two sons, Mark and Donald Holt.

Bill was a member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church, 102 E. Pima St., in Cottonwood. In memory of him, a Memorial Service with military honors will be held at the church Saturday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m., following which, a reception will be provided for further gathering and sharing of memories.
