Chuck Russell White, of Sedona, Ariz. died at the Flagstaff Medical Center, Flagstaff, Ariz. on August 27, 2008, at the age of 88.

Born Charles Russell White on Aug. 19, 1920, in Ashley, Pa., Mr. White was a career military officer. Mr. White retired with the rank of major from the Sandia Base, Albuquerque, N.M., after having served in campaigns in Iraq, Korea, and Japan. He was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal to name just a few.

It was at the Sandia Base that he met his wife Elizabeth Reese and the two were married on May 21, 1950. The Whites moved from New Mexico to Sedona and settled in the Oak Creek Knolls neighborhood in 1963.

Charles was nominated and received the title of postmaster of Sedona in 1967 and held this position until his retirement in 1979.

Mr. White is survived by his sister Jean Friel and her family of Coatesville, Pa.

Services will be private and donations may be made in Mr. White's name to the Verde Valley Medical Center, 269 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood, Ariz., 86326.

Chuck Russell White, a resident of Sedona, passed away quietly at the Flagstaff Medical Center on August 19, 2008 at the age of 88 years.
