Alvera Irene (Stieneker) Pieper

Alvera Irene Pieper, 89, a resident of Cottonwood, Ariz. died Sept. 4. She was born Sept. 20, 1918, in Huntingburg, Ind., to Henry and Marie (Milton) Stieneker.

Alvera attended Duff Elementary School and graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1937, following which she attended Arizona State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Art. She was an accomplished artist in arts and watercolor; especially with flowers.

Professionally, Alvera worked as a stenographer for the Agriculture Department and Veterans Administration.

Alvera is survived by two sons, Charles Pieper Jr. of Tonopah, and Michael Pieper of Phoenix; her daughter Charlotte Pokorski (Arnold) of Cottonwood; two half-sisters, Mildred Koon of Indianapolis, Ind., and Margie Jean Johnson of Mechanicsville, Va.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pieper; three half-brothers; and her parents.

Private family services will be held in Huntingburg, Ind.

Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood, Arizona.
