Marion Virginia Burgess, 80, of Prescott, Arizona died quietly the evening of January 3, 2004 at the Mayo Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Marion was born April 17, 1923 in Wood River Junction, Rhode Island and moved to Phoenix, Arizona with her family in 1957.

In the Spring of 1988 she and her late husband of 57 years, Jim, moved permanently to Prescott, Arizona. Marion was the daughter of William F. and Marion Anna (Enos) Perkins.

Marion was a very loving and talented individual. She enjoyed working in the garden, knitting, crocheting, working cross stitch and staying in touch with her friends and family. The last cross stitch piece Marion completed prophetically included the saying, "Some people come into our lives and quietly go. Others stay for awhile and leave footprints in our hearts . . . and we are never the same."

Marion has left footprints in many of our hearts and we will thankfully never be the same.

Marion is survived by her son Jim, and daughter-in-law Nancy, of Prescott; brothers Bob Perkins of West Lafayette, Indiana and Don (and Dot) Perkins of East Greenwich, Rhode Island; sisters Hazel (and Wilfred) Cayer of Wakefield, Rhode Island and Bess McCall of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and interment will be in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona along side her beloved husband.

In memoriam, and in-lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to either the Dementia Unit or Hospice Unit of the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System, 500 North Highway 89, Prescott, Arizona, 86313.
